About the Project
The project will upgrade US 31 to freeway standards from I-465 to SR 38. Once complete, there will be new interchanges between 96th St. at the Marion-Hamilton county line to 216th St. in Westfield. The purpose of this project is to reduce congestion, improve safety and provide for the reliable and efficient movement of commerce and regional travel. This project is part of Governor Mitch Daniels' larger Major Moves project to upgrade US 31 from Indianapolis to South Bend.
